More than 6

Well, the state of Texas has finally made a decision that I think it should have made years ago; the number of characters on a license plate is being increased from 6 (to 7).

Now, you would have thought that a state this size wouldn't be restricted to 6 (but for some reason it has), which is less than places like Oklahoma and South Dakota. And it can get tough trying to come up with a good personalized plate with only 6 characters.

However, for those of use who use normal plates, I just hope they don't do like Illinois and have them look like phone numbers.
