Let's all go to the lobby...

In talking to a few people recently, one thing has become a bit clear to me. I need to start seeing some movies. In fact, I haven't seen a movie in the theaters since last year, and I only saw 4 of them (Harry Potter 5, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Spider-Man 3, The Simpsons Movie).

Usually when I hit an open day on the weekend (about every other Sunday), I prefer to do some reading than see a movie. This is typically for two reasons: (1) reading is done on my own schedule, where as movies are done on the theatre's, and (2) reading is done in a fairly quiet environment, where as in a theater you can have all sorts of noise and lights disturb you (as I learned from a trip to a baseball game: you can choose where you sit, but you can't choose who sits around you).

However, my recent attempt at moviegoing was thwarted for other reasons. I had planned to see the new Indiana Jones movie on the 4th, but found out at the theatre they had some new pricing plan. Now while this may make it easier for me to see a movie during the week, I balked at the fact that all showing in holiday periods are full price. And at $9, I probably would rather put that towards a DVD of the movie if I had to.
